HBL PSL 2018 – 5th Match: Gladiators crush listless Qalandars in one-sided affair

Dubai February 24: Dubai February 24: Lahore Qalandars endured a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Quetta Gladiators in the fifth match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 edition.

Asked to bat first by Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed the Qalandars got off to a flyer through Sunil Narine and Brendon McCullum.

But things took a nasty turn from the Qalandars perspective as wickets started falling in quick succession.

From 46 to no loss the Lahore side stuttered to 60 for three.

Narine , Fakhar Zaman and McCullum followed one after another to the dugout.

Umar Akmal, Cameron Delport, Gulraiz Sadaf all failed to fire as wickets continued to tumble.

Sohail Akhtar helped Qalandars get past the 100 run mark with the Lahore team ending with a 119 for nine run total.

Mohammad Nawaz produced a mesmerizing spell of spin bowling conceding only four runs in his four over quota. The most economical spell in HBL PSL history.

Gladiators coasted home courtesy a swashbuckling 66 off 42 balls knock by Shane Watson with the help of five sixes and as many fours.

Asad Shafiq gave ample support from the other end scoring 38 off 36 balls his innings included three sixes and a solitary four.

The chase was completed through a flurry of boundaries by Umar Amin and Shafiq after Watson’s departure.
